Create this beautiful sheer organza dress designed to be worn effortlessly over a slip dress for an elegant look. While the design is stunning in sheer organza, it can also be recreated in a variety of fabrics to achieve completely different looks. A timeless and adaptable piece perfect for elevating any wardrobe!

Tools & Materials

  • Sewing machine
  • Fabric of your choosing (the amount of fabric will depend on your measurements but a good place to start is around 3m)
  • An existing oversized t-shirt
  • Thread that matches your fabric 
  • Safety pin
  • Scissors
  • Fabric pen 
  • Pins or clips
  • Measuring tape 
  • Ruler
  • Iron and ironing board

Fabrics

This versatile T-shaped overlay dress can be created in a variety of fabrics to achieve different looks and finishes. While organza creates a sheer and elegant effect, fabrics such as chiffon, linen, cotton voile, silk, tulle, or lightweight satin also work beautifully. You will need approximately 3 metres of fabric in total, made up of two fabric pieces measuring approximately 1.5 metres each.
