2
Measure your bust and desired length, adding a few centimeters for comfort and seams.

3
Cut two identical fabric rectangles, one for the front and one for the back using your measurements.
Instruction step image3
4
Place the two fabric pieces with right sides facing each other, then sew along both side edges.
Instruction step image4
5
Sew two parallel lines of long (basting) stitches along the edge you want to gather, then gently pull the top threads to draw the fabric together until you reach the desired fullness. Distribute the gathers evenly and secure the threads before sewing in place.

6
Pin a length of lace along the top edge of the nightie, right sides facing up, and sew it in place with a straight stitch, keeping the seam neat and even.

7
Thread a velvet ribbon through the openings in the lace, weaving it in and out evenly along the top edge, then tie or secure the ends neatly for a decorative finish.

8
Pin the straps in place at the desired length, ensuring they’re even on both sides, then sew the lace securely onto the top edge of the nightie to attach the straps.

9
Fold the bottom edge of the nightie up twice to create a neat hem, press it flat, and sew along the folded edge with a straight stitch to finish the garment cleanly.
