You Need
Materials
- 1m Fabric
- Sewing machine
- Thread
- Fabric marker
- String
- Scissors
Instructions
1
Start by gathering your materials and lay out your fabric on the table.
2
Fold the fabric into quarters so the folded corner forms the centre point.
3
Using a pencil tied to a piece of string, draw a quarter circle from that corner to mark the outer edge of the skirt.
4
Cut along the arc to get rid of the excess fabric.
5
Then, cut off the very tip of the folded corner to create the center hole. Repeat the same process on a thicker piece of fabric that will serve as the base layer.
6
Cut the fabric into long strips, fold them in half lengthwise, and sew along the raw edge with a loose stitch.
7
Gently pull the thread to gather the fabric and create the ruffle.
8
Pin the fabric to the base layer.
9
Cut a straight line from the small center hole out to the outer edge of the fabric. Then, sew a straight seam to create a neat, finished edge.
10
Pin the gathered ruffle around the outer edge of the circle, with the raw edges aligned.
11
Sew it in place, easing the ruffle evenly as you go to keep the gathers neat and consistent. Attach some fabric bows to add an extra touch.
