Lay elastic against the sleeve opening to measure the length, cutting it to fit comfortably around your upper arm with a slight stretch. This will be to create the puff sleeve, for a regular sleeve, skip the elastic and simply sew the underarm seam.

8
Fold the sleeve edge under by 1 cm (⅜"), press, then fold again by 2 cm (¾") to create a casing for the elastic. Pin in place.

Pin one end of elastic to the fabric and push it all the way through the sleeve casing. Sew the small opening in the casing closed.
