One of the best things about mosaic is how easily you can tailor it to your personal style. For this project, I’ve created a refined and elegant side table using deep red tiles and dark timber for a rich, minimal look. The design is simple—concentric rings of small square tiles—but the effect is striking. Because the table doesn’t have a raised edge, it’s important to be precise from the very first row, which acts as a visual border. This is a relaxing, repetitive project that’s perfect for winding down while still making something beautiful and functional.

Tools & Materials

  • Round side table with a flat, edgeless surface

  • Small square mosaic tiles in your chosen colour (e.g. dark red)

  • Tile adhesive or glue suitable for wood

  • Glue spreader or small brush (optional, for even application)

  • Grout (colour of your choice, to complement your tile colour)

  • Medium grout applicator (for spreading grout across the surface)

  • Damp sponge and clean water (for cleaning excess grout)

  • Microfibre cloth (for final polish)

  • Tile sealant (to protect the finished surface)

  • Cleaning cloth or rag (to prep the table surface before starting)
