Colour can completely transform the mood and impact of your mosaic. Do you want something bold and high-contrast, or soft and tonal? Earthy and organic, or bright and playful? Think about the feeling you want your piece to evoke, and where it will live. You can stick to a tight palette for a more refined look, or mix unexpected colours for something fun and expressive. Trust your gut—and don’t be afraid to play.

Tips for Choosing Colours For Your Mosaic

Start with a mood – Do you want your piece to feel calm, energetic, vintage, earthy, or bold?

Limit your palette – A small, cohesive colour palette often creates more impact than using every colour.

Think about contrast – High contrast (light vs dark) makes patterns pop; low contrast creates a more subtle effect.

Consider where it will live – Will it hang on a wall, be used outdoors, or sit on a table? Choose colours that suit the space.
