This tutorial will guide you through making a simple set of bunk beds that are easy to customise. Add a ladder for access to the top bunk, and finish with your choice of bedding to create a charming addition to your dollhouse.
Step 1: Cut the back panel, side panel, front panel (with two bunk openings), and two bed base panels from balsa wood following your measurement diagrams.
Step 2: Cut out the bunk openings in the front panel using a craft knife.
Step 3: Glue thin balsa strips inside the back panel where the two bed bases will sit (one lower, one higher). Let dry.
Step 4: Place the bed bases on the ledges and dry fit the front and side panel to check that everything lines up.
Step 5: Glue the bed bases securely onto the ledges so they stay level and flat. Glue the side panel to the back and shelves, holding it square with tape until dry. Then, glue the front panel onto the assembly, making sure the bunk openings align with the bed bases.
Step 6: Paint, stain, or leave natural wood depending on your preference.
