Throughout the Tree Dollhouse I used stone effect made from egg cartons, I found it gave such a rustic look and this treatment for walls, floors and fireplaces is such an easy thing to do - you can sit on the sofa at night, rip up some egg cartons and easily glue them down to a floor template or fireplace.

You Need

Tools

  • Small Paint Brush
  • Wood Glue

Materials

  • Egg Cartons
  • Paint or Plaster

Instructions

1
Make a template of your floor or item using white paper (white will look like grout once the stone has been laid). Then rip up the egg carton into small pieces and start gluing them down. Lay them so they fit together with a small 'grout' line so pay attention to the shapes and how they go together.

2
Paint different stones slightly different grey and beige colours. Alternatively, paint the whole surface with a plaster paint mix if you would like a more uniform look.
Pressing mixture into tart tin2
3
Once dry, glue the completed stone floor panel inside your chosen room. Add skirting board around edge to give it a nice elegant finish.
